Geotechnical drilling capabilities
Tierra owns and operates one of the largest and modern geotechnical drilling operations in the State of Florida. Tierra’s daily operations include eight (8) fully operational land-based drill rigs including four (4) light to heavy track mounted all-terrain drill rigs. The diversity of drilling equipment allows Tierra to conduct geotechnical studies in difficult access locations such as wetlands and rough terrain areas. Each drill rig is operated by drillers with an average experience of over 15 years and considered to be experts in their field. Each driller is supported by helpers that are trained daily in technique, safety and quality. In manpower, this equates to the ability to drill up to 1,400 lineal feet of test holes each day or over 400,000 lineal feet in a given year.
Tierra is also equipped with two (2) portable tripod drill rigs and one (1) barge platform. This equipment is utilized to access difficult areas that have limited space or wet drilling conditions (bayous and canals). This equipment is owned by Tierra and available to support our client’s needs. This is important when schedules are short and subcontract drillers are too busy to meet the needs of a project.
